My father Goddess rest his soul got me into the gore movies back when I was a teenager with movies like:"10,000 Maniacs" and Bloodfeast"
I was always told I was warped because of my love and fascination for horror.Well I am what I am-lol...Though I always snuck around to watch horror movies as a kid because we weren't allowed to view r rated movies so I'd sneak to the living room when all were asleep and turn the volume way down and sit up close to the tv-lol.
I also lived in SF for a couple years from the ages of 7-9 and me and my uncle who was a teen at the time would watch scary movies in which I would eventually wake up with nightmares and end up crawling in his bed-lol.He also had a Hammer horror book that I looked through numerous times fascinated by the movies and actors of that era.
So now I'm all grown up and my tastes have not changed as far as movies go.
Horror is my favorite whether its well written such as "Silent Hill" or just plain stupidly over the top like "Toxic Avenger".I love them all.
Though I do think there needs to be more originals out at the movies.Remakes are good but I love originality."Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake is a good example.
It was ok and entertaining but I watched the original again to compare and it doesn't.
The original is scarier and gets into your mind more as you tend to see things from the eyes of the victim who goes through such mental anguish and torture it'd drive anyone mad.If you've never seen the original your missing one of the greats of this genre.Rent it!
So why do I love horror?I always loved things with strength and power and to me horror movies have that in them no matter how weak the story,how over the top,theres always a strength there.I don't like every horror movie out there,don't get me wrong but I have a respect for them all.
I've always been drawn to the dark side,not that I'm all dark but certain elements and likes in my life have been drawn to it so it only makes sense that horror movies would be my favorite.Drawn to the occult from a early age has also helped this fascination.
My favorites are probally the movies about ghosts and witches.2 subjects of great importance and interest to me.
So thats me and why I am here.Thanks to Fendred's for the invitation and my morbid love for the things that go bump in the night.
